What this site is

We cover bushcraft knives, axes, folding saws, fire starters, tarps, water filters, sharpening gear, and everything else in a serious outdoor kit. The goal is to give you accurate, well-researched information so you can make a good buying decision without spending three hours reading forums.

How we make recommendations

Most recommendations on this site are research-based: we evaluate specifications, materials, manufacturing history, expert consensus, and user reviews across verified purchasers. Where a product has been personally tested, we say so. Where it has not, we say that too.

We do not publish fake hands-on reviews. We do not invent field-testing stories. When we say something is "hands-on tested," we mean exactly that. When we say "research-based recommendation," we mean we have done the research carefully but have not personally used the product.
